Boston, MA

Plymouth is about an hour from downtown Boston. Boston is a very vibrant and historical city, home to lots of attractions! Here are some recommendations:

  • Duck Boat Tour

  • Harbor Walk

  • Freedom Trail Walking Tour

  • Check out the Red Sox at Fenway Park!

  • Newbury Street: A shopping hub with many luxury stores such as Tiffany, Lululemon, Lilly Pulitzer, and Flair Boston (where Kathryn purchased her wedding dress!)

  • View Boston: A 360-degree observation deck to take in the entire city from a single view.

  • The North End: Boston’s Italian neighborhood full of authentic Italian pastas, wine, and desserts. Some of our favorite restaurants:

    • Carmelina’s

    • Trattoria Il Panino

    • Ciao Roma

    • Mike’s Pastry or Modern Pastry for desserts (including cannolis!)

Charlestown, MA

Charlestown, a neighborhood of Boston, is special to Derek and Kathryn as this is where they had their first (and many more) dates! Check out a few of their favorites:

  • Derek and Kathryn had their first date at The Anchor in Charlestown, an outdoor beer garden with light food and live music.

  • Pier 6 is another one of Derek and Kathryn’s favorites in Charlestown, and it's where their families were waiting for a surprise gathering after the engagement!

  • The Tall Ship in East Boston is a floating oyster bar with drinks, food trucks, and entertainment! And coolest of all, you can get there via a free water shuttle from Pier 6!

  • The Monument: a classic Charlestown eatery!

  • USS Constitution, if history is your cup of tea!

Cape Cod

Take a trip to The Cape for classic New England food and views! Cape Cod is just a 30-minute drive from Plymouth, but keep in mind that traffic is often a factor, particularly in the summer.

  • Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket: Check out ferries from Cape Cod to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket if you’re considering extending your trip!

Plymouth, MA

You may opt not to explore other Massachusetts areas at all; Plymouth has lots to offer as well! For the history buffs, you can check out the Pilgrims' landing spot at Plymouth Rock, as well as the rest of the downtown Plymouth area. If it's a nice weekend, you can explore the various beaches and gardens throughout the town. And if you want to channel your inner Robinson, grab a bite and a drink at Paula and Dave's go-to spot, Cabby Shack, check out the back patio that Derek's uncle Rob built at East Bay Grille, or take in a hibachi meal at the Robinsons' annual Christmas Eve spot, New Tokyo. There are also lots of bars, restaurants, ice cream places, and more in the entire area around Hotel 1620 and Tavern on the Wharf, so you really can't go wrong wherever you pick!

For information about parking in Plymouth, you can check out the Park Plymouth website. There are multiple hourly parking lots in the waterfront area.
